Thomas Steffen

Thomas has a long pedigree in land development and design with experience in all facets of the industry.  Beginning with studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture with a concentration in Business Management.  After graduation, he attended North Carolina State University and received a Master’s of Landscape Architecture degree and has been a Licensed Landscape Architect for over 10 years.  His career started as a land planner for a local multi-disciplinary design/engineering firm in Charlotte, NC with projects that included developments in both the public and private sector, entailing property rezoning, master planning residential and commercial developments, park and recreation design as well as campus planning. Seeking to learn more facets of real estate development, he spent nearly 10 years with national homebuilders including Ryland Homes (Cal-Atlantic), D R Horton and Meritage Homes. His responsibilities included managing all aspects of community development from acquisition to land development for over 50 communities and delivering in excess of 2,500 single family lots.  Thomas enjoys the entire process of developing land from identifying opportunities to the completion of the project.  In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, running and coaching his son in youth soccer, swimming and triathlon training.
